Susanna Honig (Co-PI) – is the director of the Academic Excellence (ACE) Program at UC Santa Cruz, a program that aims to increase the diversity of students earning bachelors’ degrees in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). Dr. Honig delivers the annual training and development workshop to all student staff members who have the invaluable role of co-session leaders in ACE active learning problem solving sessions as well as to the peer-mentors to the ACE undergraduates. Dr. Honig has spent her career preparing to thoughtfully train and develop mentors. As a graduate student, she attended science communication and mentorship training workshops in addition to spending thirteen quarters as a teaching assistant, where she received the departmental title of outstanding teaching assistant, an award based solely on student evaluations. During the DIG CAMP project, Dr. Honig lead the recruitment and training of undergraduate student mentors.
